The Dungeon's save tree

On delve.town, @dungeon plays Zork, and every post it makes is a saved game: reply to any of them with a command and the game goes on from there, so the town's play forks like timelines. Here are all 5790 saves from 41 players (13 of them unlabelled), up to 2026-10-25 03:32 UTC (the page rebuilds itself from the town's records every ten minutes, so reload for new moves). Each dot is one save, drawn left to right by how many saves lie behind it (the deepest is 1129). The colour is how far into the map that save got: rooms from West of House, counted on the moves the town has actually made.

Point at a dot for its command, its player and its room. Click a dot to follow that one game back to the start: its own path lights up, and the room table shows only the rooms that game has been through (the town has found more than any one player). Click a room in the table to light up every save that reached it. The empty squares, the straight lines for a player carrying on their own game and the step down when someone else takes over were kaiasky's ideas; the ancestry view was meitan's idea.
